FAIRPORT CONVENTION

For 50 years, from their first gig in May 1967, Fairport Convention has constantly reinvented and renewed itself.
Championed by the great John Peel and holding several other accolades including "Most Influential Folk Album of All Time".
The band was awarded the coveted "Lifetime Achievement Award" at the 2002 BBC Radio2 Folk Awards.
Fairport are a much welcomed return to headline a special "Best Of" extended set on Saturday Night.

Seize The Day are a radical English acoustic band with global roots.
Whatever needs to change or be defended in this world, they sing to make you laugh about it, cry about it, dance about it – maybe even inspire you to believe that you can DO something about it!
We are extremely happy to welcome Seize the Day to the festival in 2017, we have been after them for a while now.

WISHBONE ASH by MARTIN TURNER

Founder, Frontman, Singer & Songwriter from Wishbone Ash.

Contributing Vocals & Bass Guitar as well the bulk of the album's lyrics on the Award Winning classic album Argus.
Turner's melodic basslines, where the instrument was often used as a third lead guitar, were an important part of the Wishbone Ash sound during the 1970s

Martin Turner & his band will perform the hits of Wishbone Ash at the festival in 2017.

NELL BRYDEN

Singer, Songwriter & BBC Radio Presenter, Nell will make a welcome and much requested return to the festival in 2017.

Her previous shows with us have been highly complimented & packed out the Real Ale Stage.
This year, Nell take to the Main Stage to perform some of her classic hits along with the highly popular new material that is regularly featuring on the radio.

TV SMITH

English singer-songwriter, who was part of punk band The Adverts in the late 1970s.
Since then he has fronted other bands, as well as pursuing a solo career

NICK HARPER

Son of the legendary UK singer-songwriter Roy Harper,
Nick played the guitar from the age of 10 and surrounded by the likes of Keith Moon, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and Dave Gilmour as he grew up.
It was no surprise when Nick made his recording debut on his father's Whatever Happened to Jugula? in 1985.

BAR-STEWARD SONS OF VAL DOONICAN

Yorkshire's hardest-working, award-winning, tanktop-wearing, comedy band. Hailing from Barnsley Rock City in t'North The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican are on a mission! Determined to follow in their father’s immortal footsteps and keep his legacy alive,
they have a talent for Bar-Stewardizing other famous people’s songs with new comedy lyrics, on their acoustic geetars, ukuleles, banjos, bouzouki and accordion.

RADA Trained Ed Tudor-Pole, TV presenter, chart-topper and actor, began with a brief stint as a Sex Pistol replacing Johnny Rotten, before things really took off in the early 80s for his band Tenpole Tudor

THE MEN THEY COULDN'T HANG

The Men They Couldn't Hang came together in 1984 to perform at the alternative music festival in Camden town alongside the legendary Pogues and the Boot Hill Foot-Tappers.

CHANTEL MCGREGOR

A female guitar prodigy, at fourteen Chantel was told by major labels that she had a "great voice, but girls don't play guitar like that!" Wisely ignoring the comments, she achieved a 100% pass mark, with 18 distinctions & a First Class Honours degree in Popular Music and a coveted prize, for outstanding musicianship.

THE CHRISTIANS

Formed in Liverpool in the 80's, their debut double platinum album 'The Christians' was released in 1987 making No 2 in the album charts. The 90's saw the second album 'Colour' released in 1990 going to No 1 in the album charts, followed by 'Happy in Hell' in 1992 and 'The Best Of' album released in 1993.

JENNY BELLSTAR SKA GROUP

Former lead singer of The Belle Stars, Jenny has enjoyed chart sucess with various songs including 'Iko Iko', 'The Clapping Song' & of course 'Sign Of The Times'.
Jenny will perform a special Ska set, with some very special guests joining her onstage.

John Fairhurst

Often hailed as ‘Wigan’s answer to Jimi Hendrix’, John Fairhurst has been wooing the live circuit for over a decade with his astounding guitar skills, but it was arguably 2016 that saw him break through to international demand.

Tir Na Nog

Tír na nÓg is also the name that Sonny Condell and Leo O’Kelly adopted when their musical paths fortuitously crossed in 1969. The resulting mix was a magical potion of rich and varied sounds and idioms that was unique and completely different to anything else on the music scene at the time.
