Lucy is a 21 year old from Derby, and she plays guitar and concertina but considers her voice to be her first instrument. There is a natural and easy sound to her music that is brought to life by expressive performance, breath-taking delivery and Lucy's own brand of banter and crowd participation.
She has the ability to still an audience with the strength and purity of her voice, and she is developing into a fine songwriter and a consummate performer who wows her audience with not just her stunning voice but also her genuine and sparkling personality.?
Lucy Ward is an award winning singer songwriter from Derby in the UK. After winning the Horizon Award (Best Newcomer) at the BBC Folk Awards in 2012 she went on to release her second album 'Single Flame' to widespread acclaim. Mark Radcliffe (BBC Radio 2) called it, "mature and unflinching" and the Guardian, gave it 4 stars and said the album was "Impressive and original". The success of the album led to a nomination in 2014 for the prestigious BBC Folk Singer of the Year Award, made more special by Lucy being the youngest nominee in the history of the Awards.
