The roots of Merry Hell are in The Tansads =96 for the many who knew the=
m, possibly the finest band never to have made it BIG. From their early 90=
=92s origins, this 9-piece quasi folk-punk-rock orchestra enjoyed a career =
that spanned 5 albums and countless tours. Though they went their separate =
ways for some 10 years, The Tansads were again brought together, in 2010, f=
or 3 triumphant reunion gigs at their spiritual home of The Citadel, St Hel=
ens, the venue for their celebratory live album, =91Drag Down the Moon=92. =
As the dust settled on the reunion shows, the decision had already been mad=
e that a revitalized band should take the spirit of The Tansads forward int=
o a new era. So Merry Hell was raised.
MERRY HELL is a band founded on t=
he ever evolving Folk tradition =96 music made by the people and shared by =
the people. "Though our hearts and souls are tuned to the songs which came =
before us, we bring you new words and music forged from our own experiences=
, from the lows and the loves of our lives. Our art is energy and our hope =
is unity. Our pleasure is to please: let the audience be the acid test and =
let the music speak for itself..."
